Entrecard

I have just installed the Entrecard widget into my sidebar. Entrecard is a very cool program that allows you to make a “business” card that you can drop onto other blogs that are also running the Entrecard widget.

If you want to advertise on a specific blog, you can for free.  How do you “pay” for this free advertising?  It is done by Entrecard credits.  You earn Entrecard credits every time you visit a blog and drop your card.  All you do is click on the “Drop Yours” at the bottom of the Entrecard widget on a blog.  This does not make the card visible, it just tells the blog owner that you visited their blog.

If you want to make the card visible, you can advertise with all the credits you earned by visiting blogs in the first place.  You earn 1 credit each time you drop your card and 1 credit each time you drop your card on other’s blogs.  You also earn credits each time you advertise.

Entrecard is a cool way to get your blog noticed for free.  Try it.  I think you will like it.

Increasing Page Rank - Join Forums

We all know that Page Rank is gold.  The higher the page rank, the more gold you have!  Since this is a new blog, I am looking into ways of increasing its page rank.   One suggestion - join forums.  Join multiple forums that are related to your blog.  Make sure that you create a signature line in your profile so that every time you leave a comment, your name AND website URL appear.  You are now receiving links back to your blog and advertising your blog at the same time accomplishing two things at once.

What is a Feed?

When I first started blogging, I was so confused by a blogging term that kept popping up - feed. I had no idea what that was or how it worked.  After some intensive reading, this is what I discovered.

A feed is something that you can subscribe to. It can be text, audio or video. You can watch, listen or read the feed with a feed reader. For savvy computer users, feeds make their lives so much easier. Instead of visiting every blog, every day, to read the posts, the user just opens up their favorite feed reader and browses all the posts at once.

The feed to your blog is usually http://www.yourdomainname.com/feed.  But this line in a browser, with your domain name, and you should see a document tree with a rss tag at the top.  A blog that has a feed will usually display a feed icon.  Most popular blogging platforms automatically produce a feed for your blog.
